In the 1970’s in Israel there were a number of small, scattered groups of believing students meeting on several of the university campuses. John Woodhead, who was raised in Israel, returned to the country after his studies abroad with a vision to see a viable student ministry come into being. John, together with some of his Arab and Jewish friends, began to support the small student groups, making connections that led to the creation of the Fellowship of Christian Students in Israel (FCSI).
In 1987, FCSI affiliated with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES). In 1989 FCSI was registered by the Israeli government as an official charity. From that time, FCSI has played a major role among believing students: Messianic Jews, Christian Arabs, and International Christians living in Israel. Today, many FCSI alumni are leading ministries and being witnesses in their places of employment. FCSI is one of the few ministries in Israel where Arab Christians, Messianic Jews, and International Christians meet under the same umbrella.
Our vision:
To see active and influential Christian student groups on every university and college in Israel, influencing church and society.
Our mission:
To motivate students in Israel and equip them to be salt and light in their campuses through Bible study, training, evangelism, and networking.
